Position: Point Guard
Maggie Wilkins continues to do Maggie Wilkins things. This week she led her team to a couple of big wins including a 43-37 win over Centerville to hand the Redettes their first loss of the season and grab a share of the South Central Conference lead.
Her week started with a tight win over Eddyville-Blakesburg Fremont where she helped her team close out the fourth quarter on a 15-6 run.
Wilkins finished the game with 27 points, five rebounds, two assists and seven steals.
She would then lead her Panthers to a huge road win against Centerville where she was once again great in the fourth quarter while her team outscored their opponent 13-4 in the final eight minutes.
While her team struggled to find their shooting touch, Wilkins was on fire with 29 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field, 3-of-4 from three and 6-of-8 from the line to go along with seven rebounds, one assist and four steals.
On the season, Wilkins ranks fourth in the state averaging 25.3 points per game on 46.2% shooting from the floor, 41.4% from three and 76.6% from the free throw line with 4.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 4.4 steals per game (eighth in 3A). So far she has amassed 1,423 points in her career as she creeps closer to the rare 1,500 point mark.
Wilkins and Knoxville (11-3, 8-1 SCC) host Albia (4-11, 2-8 SCC) on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
