Norah Pearson

Knoxville's Norah Pearson races at last year's state qualifier.

BLOOMFIELD — Norah Pearson missed some time early in the season recovering from an injury, but she seems to be peaking at the right time again this year as she finished ahead of the pack in first place at Tuesday’s South Central Conference Meet.

Pearson defended her conference title after winning last year as a freshman. She improved her conference winning time by over two and a half minutes, crossing the line at 19:17 this year.

The Knoxville girls finished fourth as a team with the other six girls all finishing in the top 30.

Those girls were Natalie Collins (16th, 23:41), Faith Roozeboom (20th, 24:06), who had a career-best time, Jalen Nelson (22nd, 24:26), Taylor Jones (23rd, 24:34), Olivia Maasdam (26th, 25:03) and Tanna Davis (28th, 25:13).

The Panther boys finished in third place as a team once again this year with Seth Walraven once again earning all-conference honors after taking third with a time of 18:11.

Finishing behind him was Peter Picard (15th, 19:37), Max Purvis (17th, 19:44), Joey Hembrook (24th, 20:27), Ethan Morgan (27th, 20:46), Henry Picard (28th, 20:49) and John Buttell (31st, 21:04).

Knoxville will next race in the state qualifier on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
