KNOXVILLE — With the imminent return of racing fans to Knoxville Raceway, the track recently released new health and safety protocols that will need to be followed by spectators.

First and foremost, if a spectator has any symptoms of COVID-19, has been exposed to COVID-19 or is awaiting results of a COVID-19 test, they shouldn’t attend the event.

The maximum capacity is 50% plus social distancing allowances. If more than 3,250 spectators are expected to be in attendance, both the front and backstretch grandstands will be opened. Concessions will not be opened on the backstretch for the June 6 event.

Grandstand gates will open at 4:30 p.m. for immunocompromised spectators as well as spectators who are 65 years of age or older. All other fans can enter starting at 5:30 p.m.

The elevator will begin service for suite holders and any fans with physical restrictions at 4:30 p.m. Anyone using the elevator will undergo a temperature test with any guest with temperature over 100.4 to be asked to leave the premises. The elevator will also be limited to five people maximum.

All spectators are asked to practice social distancing at all times during the race night. Please sit in even numbered rows only and allow three seats between groups. Groups should be 10 people or less.

Spectators are asked to maintain social distancing when in all lines, including but not limited to, ticket windows, entry, concession, and restroom. Additional ticket entry locations will be opened if necessary. Tickets will be scanned and not torn.

Face masks are highly recommended, but not required.

Credit and debit cards are suggested for all transactions, but cash will be accepted.

Tailgaiting, congregating in the parking lots or under the grandstands before or after the race night is not permitted. The infield pit area will not be open to spectators before or after the races.

Only the west end restrooms, suite level, and infield restrooms will be open at this time. The restrooms will have attendants cleaning throughout the race night.

Sanitizer and hand-washing stations will be available under the grandstands.

Racing resumes at Knoxville Raceway on June 6 for the Pella Motors/Kraig Ford Season Opener. Hot laps begin at 6:45 p.m.
