KNOXVILLE — The Panthers of Knoxville welcomed the Panthers of Creston to town for their homecoming game at Ken Locke Stadium on Friday but it was the latter leaving with a 49-0 shutout win.

Creston scored three times in the first quarter and once in the second as they took a 28-0 lead into halftime before extending it in the second half with three more touchdowns while holding Knoxville out of the end zone.

Creston out-gained Knoxville 365-109 on the night. Creston quarterback Kyle Strider was 7-of-11 with 187 yards and four touchdowns. They also won the turnover battle by forcing five Knoxville turnovers (four fumbles, one interception).

Tristin DeJong led the Knoxville ground attack with 40 yards on 12 carries while Hayden Jones ran for 37 yards on nine attempts. Konner Leslie caught two passes for 19 yards.

Defensively, Dakota Ramsey led the team with 4.5 tackles while freshmen Ruger Kendall and Koby Higginbotham both had sacks for Knoxville.

Knoxville (0-5, 0-1) will have a chance to bounce back this week when they travel to Saydel (0-5, 0-1) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
