KNOXVILLE — On Thursday morning, the Knoxville Fire Department was dispatched to the Knoxville Recreation Center for smoke in the locker rooms.
Department responded with one engine, one ladder, one ambulance and one command car with nine personnel. When crews arrived, they found light smoke in the men’s locker room. Crews investigated the cause of the smoke, and found a motor on a rooftop HVAC system started the fire.
Power to the HVAC unit was shut off. The building was ventilated to remove smoke, and other products of combustion.
Knoxville Fire Department was assisted on scene by Pella EMS. All units returned to the stations by 11:51 a.m.
