NEVADA — It was another tough night for Knoxville as they fell to a quality undefeated squad in Nevada, 57-7.
The Cubs found the end zone twice in the first quarter but would explode for 29 points in the second to pull ahead 43-0 at the half and start up the running clock.
Knoxville’s lone score on the night came in the fourth quarter when Kieren Nichols hit Mike Hudson for a 29-yard touchdown. Unfortunately that was Nichols’ only completion on the night against a stout Cubs defense that forced three Panther turnovers.
Nichols was 1-of-8 passing with one interception while running for another 39 yards. Gavin Montalvo led the rushing attack with 41 yards on five carries.
Hayden Lee led the defense with six tackles.
Knoxville (1-3, 1-1) will try to get things back on track when they travel to Bondurant-Farrar (2-2, 1-1) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
