BONDURANT — A couple of even teams locked in a overtime thriller on Thursday with Luke Keitges’ late three in overtime pushing the Panthers of Knoxville by Bondurant-Farrar, 75-73.
This one was close throughout the night. The Bluejays held a one-point lead after each of the first two quarters. They pushed that lead to two to start the fourth quarter before Knoxville would force overtime.
It seemed like the game was going to come down who got the last shot. Knoxville was trailing by one late in the overtime period, Kieren Nichols drove to the rim and kicked it out to the corner. Two extra passes later and Keitges would knock down the go-ahead three at the top of the key to give the Panthers the lead, which they would hold on to to grab their 12th win of the season.
Knoxville had four score in double figures led by Nichols with 24 points, four assists and two steals. Spencer Hixson had 16 points and seven rebounds, Keitges finished with 15 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three blocks and Mike Hudson ended with a double-double of 10 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and a steal.
History was made in the game as Nichols broke the school’s all-time career three-pointers record with 152.
Knoxville (12-6, 9-2 SCC) will host No. 6 (3A) Pella (17-2, 13-1 LHC) on Friday at 7:45 p.m.
