KNOXVILLE — Tickets will be sold at the door for the Knoxville Area Community Theatre (K-ACT) production of “She Kills Monsters,” a play by Qui Nguyen.
This modern dark comedy will be presented Aug. 19-20 at the ISU Marion County Extension auditorium at 210 North Iowa Street in Knoxville. In order to make the show affordable for everyone, tickets will be sold for a fee.
“She Kills Monsters” tells the story of Agnes, a young woman grieving for her deceased sister, Tilly. The sisters were never close, but after Tilly’s death Agnes receives a notebook that reveals Tilly was a passionate online fantasy gamer. The play follows Agnes’ journey to better understand her mysterious young sibling. Full of elves, warrior women and ogres, “She Kills Monsters” is a surprising and tender tale of friendship, loss and acceptance.
This summer production was the brainchild of Piper King who is directing the play. Taylor Decious is the assistant director. The teenage cast for the show includes Abygail Schuring, Maylei Ruggles, Josh Adolfson, Nic Adolfson, Olivia Lawman, Taylor Decious, Sawyer Venenga, Poet Nickel, Hannah Schuring, Steven Kehr and Joslynn McCormick. Sara Collins of K-ACT is a consultant to the production team.
“Our cast has been working hard on this very special play,” King said. “And we’re excited to bring it to everyone in Marion County.”
