Who: Knoxville (0-2) vs Carlisle (0-2)
Where: Ken Locke Stadium in Knoxville
When: Friday, Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
First meeting in VarsityBound era (since 2006).
One key player for Knoxville
Tristin DeJong has the most touches on offense this season with 25 carries going for 76 yards. That trend will likely continue on Friday and Knoxville will need DeJong to continue to pound away positive yardage and possibly break out a few big runs along the way to keep some positive juices flowing in the Panther offense that has been held off the scoreboard each of the first two games.
Keys for Knoxville
Two teams that have struggled in the first two weeks and share similar philosophies on offense. This game will be decided in the trenches and in the turnover department. Carlisle gave up 70 points to Lewis Central in week one and were then held to just three points against Winterset last week, both of those opponents are in the top 10 rankings in 4A this week. The Panthers have yet to find the end zone through two games and finding a way to finish off drives this week, especially early, would go a long way for their confidence as this contest goes on. Knoxville is dealing with several injuries and seeing how those play going into Friday will also make a difference as they look to avoid an 0-3 start.
