Monday, May 8

1:30 p.m. Knoxville Public Library Book Club meeting. The selection for the month is “World Piece: A Pie Baker's Global Quest for Peace, Love, and Understanding” by Beth Howard. Howard is originally from Iowa and lived in the American Gothic House in Eldon, where she operated a popular pie stand. She is a global traveler and author of several books. Meet in the Weiler Room at the library for coffee, pie and conversation. Howard will join via Zoom for a Q&A session. The library will provide some pie, though they encourage anyone who enjoys baking to bring their favorite pie to share. Copies of the book are available to read in advance. Stop by the front desk or call the library at 641-828-0585.

4 p.m. Teen Movie Night at Oskaloosa Public Library. This week’s movie is “Hoot.”

6:30 p.m. Ukulele Community Strum at Pella Public Library. The public is invited to play ukuleles together for an evening of music and song. This event will be held the second Monday of each month until Sept. 11 and is for ages 12 and up. Bring your own ukulele. Those who don’t have a ukulele can borrow one, courtesy of Central College’s Music Education Department. First come, first served.
