KNOXVILLE — An individual has been transported to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after suffering from burns from a car fire.

On Nov. 19 at 11:31 a.m., the Knoxville Fire Department was dispatched to the 500 block of S. Third St. for a reported car fire. When crews arrived, they found a car on fire in the back of the home about eight feet from the house.

It was determined the individual was working on a fuel tank of the car when it caught fire.

Crews extinguished the fire and kept if from spreading to the house. While crews were extinguishing the fire, EMS crews treated and transported the individual with burns to Knoxville Hospital and Clinics and later to University of Iowa Hospitals.

The Knoxville Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Knoxville Police Department.
