NEWTON — The Indians split a doubleheader against their Little Hawkeye Conference foe. After losing a close one in game, the Oskaloosa would runaway with the second game by 15 runs.

Oskaloosa (5-3, 4-3 LHC) host Pella (5-4, 5-2 LHC) for a doubleheader on Friday at 3 p.m.

GRIMES — The Eagles played a couple of hard fought games against an undefeated squad one day after their dramatic win at Principal Park.

Dallas Center-Grimes scored seven runs in the bottom of the first on their way to a game one victory. Pella Christian was able to pull within one in the fourth inning but could fully close in.

Luke Mulder, Cameron VanderWal and Jack Vermeer each had two hits for the Eagles. Devin Haveman homered and had two RBIs while Mulder chipped in a pair of RBIs.

Game two saw the Mustangs once again use a big first inning to gain a large lead as this time they scored eight in the first on their way to a 9-2 victory to earn the sweep.

Matthew Bokhoven went 2-for-3 for the Eagles while Kyle Branderhorst drove in one run. Branderhorst also pitched six great innings of relief, giving up one run on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Pella Christian (2-7, 2-6 LHC) host Newton (1-5, 1-5 LHC) on Monday at 7:30 p.m.

Knoxville 9, Albia 8

KNOXVILLE — The baseball and softball games in Knoxville were wild on Thursday night.

Knoxville held the lead going into the seventh but would give up four runs to Albia to surrender the lead only to come back and score two runs in the bottom to send the game to extras.

Ben Olson would end the game in the ninth inning with the bases loaded and the infield in. Olson ripped one to the third baseman who would hesitate before throwing home allowing the winning run to slide in safely.

Knoxville (2-4, 1-1 SCC) will host No. 4 Des Moines Christian (6-3) on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

NEWTON — After suffering a pair of losses to begin the week, Oskaloosa was in need of a bounce back and they got just that with a pair of convincing wins over Newton.

No. 8 (4A) Oskaloosa (5-3, 3-2 LHC) host Pella (1-7, 1-7 LHC) in a doubleheader on Friday at 3 p.m.

GRIMES — The Eagles hung around in both games of a road doubleheader against a top three team in Class 4A.

The Mustangs scored all six of their runs in the first three innings of game one with Pella Christian scoring a pair in the fifth inning.

Game two was a pitchers duel until Dallas Center-Grimes would strike with two runs in the fifth inning which would prove to be the difference.
