PELLA — The Dutch picked up a nice win on Tuesday against perennial 1A powerhouse Martensdale-St Marys on Tuesday behind a great pitching performance from Ryan Mace.
Pella struck first with a run in the first inning before MSM eventually tied it at one in the fourth inning. From there, the Dutch would score the next five runs to get the win.
Mace held the Blue Devils to one run on four hits with one walk and seven strikeouts on his way to the complete game win.
The bats were led by a 2-for-2 night from Jason Knox who had a walk, double and one RBI. Mason Wittmer, Nick DeJong and Cole Hillman also drove in a run for the Dutch.
Pella (17-12) hits the road to face Ballard (16-11) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Pella Christian 7, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 5
PELLA — The Eagles were able to erase a late deficit to get a win over a good EBF squad on Tuesday night in their final regular season game.
The two teams went back and forth all night with EBF eventually taking a 5-3 lead in the sixth before the Eagles answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning to get the win.
Bennett Spronk had a home run and four RBIs for the Eagles. Micah DeHaan and Kellan Shull both had two hits and a RBI while Ty Vander Molen also drove in a run for PC.
The Eagles used four pitchers on the night with DeHaan, Spronk, Lincoln Vander Molen and Trevor Veenstra all seeing time on the mound. The four combined to give up five runs, four earned, on eight hits with four walks and eight strikeouts.
Pella Christian (9-21) begins postseason play at home on Saturday at 7 p.m. where they will take on Chariton (4-20) in the district quarterfinals.
Knoxville 11, Bondurant-Farrar 7
BONDURANT — Knoxville found themselves trailing 6-0 early before rallying late with four runs in the fourth, five in the sixth and two in the seventh to grab the victory on the road on Tuesday.
The Panther bats totaled 15 hits on the night led by Dakota Ramsey’s 4-for-5 game with a double and two RBIs. Jaxon Zuck and Bode Cox both had two hits while Zuck and Mike Hudson also had two RBIs. Trenten Kingrey, Cox and Beau Leisure each had one RBI.
Ramsey also scored the win after giving up two runs on three hits with one walk in five innings of work on the mound.
Knoxville (15-15) continues play on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. when they host PCM (8-13).
Pella 3, Perry 1
PERRY — The Lady Dutch capped off their regular season with another win on Tuesday as they got the close win over Perry.
Pella struck first with a run in the second inning as the 1-0 score would hold until the sixth inning when the Lady Dutch grabbed another run before Perry got it back in the bottom of the inning. The girls in green added one more run in the seventh for good measure on their way to the 3-1 victory.
Ella Corbin got the win after giving up one run on five hits with four walks and five strikeouts in seven innings.
Katie Pollock went 2-for-3 while Hailey Van Vark had the lone RBI for the Lady Dutch.
Pella (8-26) will head to Grinnell (14-16) on Thursday at 7 p.m. for a regional quarterfinal matchup.
