Robert and Virginia Runnells

KNOXVILLE — The late Robert and Virginia Runnells, along with other family members, recently donated $15,000 to the Knoxville Hospital & Clinics (KHC).

The family’s contribution will support the hospital’s clinic expansion and honor the memory of the couple who were proud to call Knoxville home for many years.

Robert passed away in March just shy of his 99th birthday, while Virginia passed away at the age of 96 in 2019.

Their daughter Diana, a 1966 Knoxville High School graduate, appreciated the peace of mind she had knowing that her parents were being cared for by compassionate health care professionals just down the street from her parents’ home.

“I can’t say enough about the care my parents received at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics,” said Diana. “I hope the Knoxville community knows how fortunate it is to have access to a hometown hospital – let alone one that is as reputable and caring as KHC.”

Diana is excited about KHC’s clinic expansion plans. “It’s an important project,” she said. “Having all of the family providers and specialists in the same area will be a wonderful addition to an already wonderful hospital.”

“We are so grateful for Robert and Virginia,” said Kevin Kincaid, KHC CEO. “They trusted us to provide them with the best health care, and in turn, they are paying it forward so that we can continue serving others in the same manner. Their generous spirits are a perfect example of what makes our community one of the best.”
