KNOXVILLE — The Knoxville City Council approved the rezoning request from KJ Property Management during their Monday meeting.

The motion will now make 1510 West Pleasant Street, which is owned by Ramaeker Properties, LLC, a two-family residential instead of a C-2 general commercial building.

The City Council also approved a salary change for Mayor Brian Hatch, which has now doubled from $2,500 to $5,000.

Besides the mayor, the council approved a proposal where members will be compensated with $50 per meeting.

Lastly, the council approved purchasing a new ambulance for the Knoxville Fire Department. In a letter, Fire Chief Cal Wyman they have paid around $17,000 in repairs for ambulance 937 within the past year.

The reason for the high repair cost is due the vehicle being from Demers, which is based out of Canada. Wyman has reached out to Arrow Ambulance in Rock Rapids, Iowa, a company specializing in building Gen 2 ambulances.

The estimated cost for a Gen 2 ambulance is $190,000. Radio equipment from Racom is also estimated to be $5,032.20.

The next Knoxville City Council will be on Nov. 1, beginning at 6:15 p.m.
