PELLA — Pella visitors will soon see a brand new hotel once they check in at the local GrandStay Hotel and Suites.

As of Tuesday this week, the hotel — which was formerly a Holiday Inn Express — was purchased by Pella Hospitality LLC, with future plans to completely revamp the interior of the hotel to give a modern look for visitors.

Rod Lindquist, a partner with Pella Hospitality LLC, said he looked at Pella several years ago to develop a hotel around the area.

Due to his ownership company possessing 10 hotels in the Midwest, Lindquist said his partners were already familiar with making a hotel for similar landscapes.

The team is planning to start renovation both internally and externally within the next few weeks, which will include working on the exterior color, putting up signage, putting in new flooring all over the hotel, and re-doing the pool and outdoor patio.

The renovations are expected to be complete by the upcoming fall. When that time comes, Lindquist said he hopes the building will feel like a brand new hotel.

“We pride ourselves in customer service and guest satisfaction,” he said, “You can stay at any nice hotel anywhere, but if the customer service is questionable, it doesn't matter. Great customer service is critical, our company knows it and it’s in our DNA.”

Besides making upgrades to the hotel, Lindquist said the hotel will also look to hiring more employees, which he said he looks forward to due to the satisfaction of the current staff at GrandStay Hotel and Suites.

Lindquist said he’s pleased to have worked in the city, feeling that many people who stay in the hotel will enjoy the community.

“Pella is a beautiful community,” Lindquist said. “It's just a really dynamic community that shows a lot of pride. ..you couldn't find a more beautiful setting where this property is at, so we're pretty excited.”
