KNOXVILLE — Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is hosting a Community Plant Sale on Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The sale will be held in the parking lot of the church at 1506 S Attica Rd, Knoxville (the church by the golf course on Attica). The first $500 raised will benefit the Knoxville Food Youth Initiative.
Any remaining funds will go to Good Shepherd Youth for summer trips.
“We wanted to find a way to both support our ministries and participate in the life of our town. Since many Good Shepherd members enjoy gardening, we believe it to be a good fit,” said Rev. Joshua Feala, Pastor at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
The outdoor and indoor plants for sale will be from congregation members’ gardens; plus heirloom tomatoes sourced from a local greenhouse can be purchased. Garden art and gently used outdoor decor will also be available.
The Marion County Extension will have a Master Gardener on site for any gardening questions visitors may have.
“There has always been a strong tie with the people of the Knoxville and Marion County Community with the rich agricultural land. For years families of this area of Iowa have worked hard to beautify the landscapes of their homes and gardens. Last fall during the pandemic, we came up with the idea of having an outdoor fundraising event that would be safe, fun and benefit the Knoxville Youth Food Initiative and the GSLC summer youth trip to the boundary waters of northern Minnesota,” said Phil Hoffman, Head of the Community Plant Sale Planning Team.
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and is located at 1506 S Attica Rd in Knoxville.
