VanVeldhuizen, Landgrebe lead Indians to first win of season

(Continued)

OSKALOOSA —

The Wildcats didn't possess the ball long in the second half, having it for just under 8 minutes in the final 24 as the Indians forced three turnovers in the half.
Carlisle added 9-yard touchdown run by Tyrell Erb midway in the third quarter to get to within 12, but VanVeldhuizen scored from 3 yards out with 1:36 left in the period to extend the margin to 40-21.
McMullen's second TD of the game midway in the fourth quarter was the final touchdown of the night as the Indians survived a lost fumble by getting the ball back on downs with 5:18 remaining.
Oskaloosa ran out the clock as the trio of Landgrebe, VanVeldhuizen and Mason Wisse, who rushed for 73 yards in the gamne, didn't allow Carlisle to get the ball back.
Oskaloosa goes on the road this week as it has a district game with Chariton.
