Oskaloosa volleyball squad drops four matches at Johnston tourney

Oskaloosa’s volleyball team had a formidable task when it competed in the Johnston Tournament on Saturday.
The Indians (4-29) took on ranked teams in Pleasant Valley (No. 8 in Class 5A) and Ankeny Centennial (No. 6 in 5A), along with Waukee (18-18) and Roland-Story (21-8).
Thus Oskaloosa dropped four matches — 21-11 21-11 to Pleasant Valley; 21-7, 21-17 to Roland-Story; 21-10, 21-8 to Ankeny Centennial and 25-20, 25-15 to Waukee.
The Indians had seven aces and 23 kills on the day with Taylor Richardson collecting five aces, 25 digs and 14 of the 15 assists in the tournament. Kailyn Risher pounded 13 kills to lead the team.
Oskaloosa closes the regular season Tuesday at Norwalk.
