Postseason honors just keep rolling on for four Herald-area cagers.
Earlier this week, Oskaloosa’s Kena Veldhuizen, North Mahaska’s Mallory Boyle, Pella Christian’s Paige Engbers and Twin Cedars’ Alee Hugen were named to all-state teams by the Iowa Newspaper Association.
Thursday, the quartet were selected to the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association’s All-State teams.
Veldhuizen was named to the first team in Class 4A while Boyle was also a first-team choice in Class 2A and Engbers was a second-team pick. Hugen was a second team honoree in Class 1A and Engbers’ teammate, Cori Uitermarkt, was a third-team selection.
Veldhuizen led 4A in in scoring at 19.6 points a game while adding 109 steals and 89 assists.
Boyle scored 14.4 points a game and grabbed 7.0 rebounds per contest for the Warhawks.
Engbers tied for the team lead in scoring at 14.3 points a game as Uitermarkt also averaged 14.3 points a game and averaged 8.6 rebounds per contest for the Eagles.
Hugen led the Sabers as she scored 18.8 points and hauled in 8.8 rebounds per game.
