Rockets advance five to semifinals


Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont will have five wrestlers in Friday night's Class 1A semifinals at the state wrestling tournament.

Tyler Foubert recorded his second straight pin in less than 30 seconds whith his 29-second fall of Marcus Siegewarth of Central Elkader in the quarterfinals. He earlier had a 13-second pin in the first round.

Here's how The Herald area wrestlers fared Friday

Class 1A

138 — Jeren Glosser, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont tech. falled Zach Keppy, Wilton, 6:00 (16-1) in quarterfinal; vs. Connor Shulista, Alburnett, in semifinal.

145 — Blake Marolf, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, dec. Luke Klingensmith, Woodbury Central, 3-2 in quarterfinal; vs. Payton Rice, Manson Northwest Webster, in semifinal.

152 — Tucker Black, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, dec. Gable Verschoor, Woodbury Central, 10-4 in quarterfinal; vs. Tyler Donovan, West Branch, in semifinal.

160 — Tyler Foubert, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, pinned Marcus Siegwarth, Central Elkader, :29 in quarterfinal; vs. Wyatt Lewis, Council Bluffs St. Albert, in semifinal.

170 — Logan Moore, West Monona, dec. Dillon Pigsley, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, 2-1 (Tiebreaker) in quarterfinal; Pigsley pinned Ryan Even, Jesup, 3:35 in consolation second round. Next: Payton Housman, Riverside, in consolation third round on Saturday.

195 — Ty Schnieder, Southeast Warren, dec. Hunter Johnston, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, 3-2 in consolation second round. Finishes 38-12.
