Oskaloosa’s girls soccer team has been very stingy in allowing shots this season.
The undefeated Indians hardly gave Knoxville a chance to put a shot on goalkeepers Sandra Blom and Paige Watters on a chilly Tuesday night at Lacey Complex.
Oskaloosa (3-0), on the other hand, tallied three goals in both halves en route to the 6-0 shutout of the Panthers (0-4).
“We were had a lot of offene tonight,” Oskaloosa coach Greg Walter said. “We really tried hard to put as much pressure on their defenders as much as possible. We held them to no shots on goal.
“I love the girls’ effort tonight. We had to go into the wind during the first half. We held Knoxville to no shots the whole game. Credit to Knoxville for never giving up. They were always working hard and never gave up.”
The Indians got all the goals they needed as Sarandyn Curtis scored in the 14th minute and they never looked back.
Barely 5 minutes later, Ciara Conley made it 2-0 on the first of two assists by Jackie Reif then Katelyn Hasselman intercepted a goal kick and lofted a shot over the Knoxville goalkeeper’s head for a 3-0 lead in the 27th minute.
Oskaloosa increased the lead to 4-0 in the 48th minute on a goal by Taylor Seaton with Hailey Adams getting the assist.
The Indians put the contest away with a pair of goals in a two-minute span.
The first came from Keely Blanchard with Reif collecting her second assist of the night in the 61st minute.
Then Curtis recorded her second goal of the game in the 63rd minute with Adams getting her second assist of the contest.
The junior varsity game went Oskaloosa’s way as well with Andie Reif and Katelyn Anderson picking up the goals in a 2-0 win in a match that went to a 1 30-minute half.
The Indians are off until April 16 when they travel to Pella Christian.
