Gabriel Green and Alex Edwards guided the William Penn men’s track and field program to some solid showings at the Northwest Missouri State Open Saturday.
Green had a pair of high finishes, but was best in the 200-meter dash as he took the crown in a time of 22.29 seconds. The senior was also third in the 100-meter dash at 10.95 seconds.
Edwards crossed the line first in the 800-meter dash with a time of 1:56.32.
Stepfon Williams, Kederick Givens and Yanni Gallagher all joined Green with two noteworthy top-10 showings.
Williams was seventh in both the 200 (23.37 seconds) and 400 (52.10 seconds), while Givens was eighth in both the 100 (11.22 seconds) and 200 (23.47 seconds). Gallagher paced the distance group with a third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 10:28.41 and a sixth in the 800 (2:03.59).
Blake Washington made it three high placings for William Penn in the 800 as he hit the line at 2:03.03. Bryndon Douglas was William Penn’s best field competitor with a third-place performance in the long jump at 21-1.5.
William Penn travels to Des Moines next Friday and Saturday to compete in the Jim Duncan Invitational.
