OSKALOOSA — Another week has passed and two more awards have been garnered by the William Penn baseball team as the Midwest Collegiate Conference weekly honors were announced Monday.

Jayme Mueller was named MCC Pitcher of the Week, while Ricky Alvarez earned league Player of the Week status. The duo helped the Statesmen (12-10, 2-2 MCC) to a sweep over Viterbo.

Mueller tossed five scoreless innings against Viterbo Thursday, including posting five strikeouts against one walk. He also performed at the plate with a single in the seventh that scored the only two runs of the game.

For the year, the senior is 1-0 with a team-best 1.50 earned run average. Over 12 innings, he has 14 strikeouts versus four walks and opponents are hitting .227 against him.

Alvarez played in just one game last week, but performed well with two hits against the V-Hawks.

For the year, the senior is hitting .353 (6-for-17) with two runs scored and one RBI.

The awards are the fifth and sixth for WPU this year.
