Penn's football team in the midst of preseason practice

The Statesmen football team has two days of camp in the books and William Penn coach Todd Hafner is encouraged by the dedication from his squad.
“Our weight room numbers were the best they’ve ever been,” explained Hafner. “Our conditioning is good, but we’ll keep working on it.”
Hafner is also happy with the leadership from last year’s captains.
“We had six captains last year and all of them are returners,” Hafner said. “They have shown good leadership on and off the field so far.”
The Statesmen have rougher days coming up on the gridiron, as they will start full-padded practices on Saturday. Despite the added contact, Hafner hasn’t lost sight on what is most important: his players’ health.
“We know the kids will get more bumps and bruises starting this weekend,” Hafner said. “We only run one full-padded practice a day in camp. We need everyone to stay as healthy as possible to play at our best.”
