Indians score run in sixth to get past Cardinals

NEWTON —

Oskaloosa and Newton scored two runs each in the fourth inning, but the Indians added the go-ahead run in the sixth to squeak out a 3-2 win in Little Hawkeye Conference action Wednesday night.
Six different players had hits for the Indians (14-11) with winning pitcher Nick Rutledge having a double. He also scored a run as did Mitchell Schaffner and Nate VanVeldhuizen.
Rutledge ran his record to 6-2 as he surrendered the two runs on three hits and striking out four.
The Indians will be taking the July 4 holiday off and resume action Monday at home against Norwalk.
