EBF makes short work of DM Christian

Herald correspondent

Big innings in the first and fourth allowed Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont to score an 11-1 victory over visiting Des Moines Christian.
The Rockets had five doubles, a triple and a home run in the contest.
Just as powerful the offense was for the Rockets, junior hurler Nataliah Hopkins managed the circle. She allowed just one hit, a double to Des Moines Christian’s Maddie Wagner. Meanwhile, she struck out seven and walked one batter.
The South Central Conference runners-up, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont scored five runs in its half of the first inning. The Rockets added a single run in the second and then erupted for five more in the fourth. Des Moines Christian scored when its pitcher walked and Wagner hit her double. The Rocket defense and Hopkins pitching did not allow any further damage.
Rocket freshman McKinley Moore had her bat working. She hit a home run and a double to drive in five runs. She also scored twice.
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (24-8, 7-3) will enter Class 2A tournament play Wednesday. The Rockets will host the winner of North Mahaska and Pella Christian, which play Tuesday night in New Sharon. Both games will begin at 7 p.m.
Des Moines Christian finishes the regular season with a 17-12 record.
