Osky seventh at Moravia Invite


The Oskaloosa boys golf team competed in the 18-team Moravia Invitational Thursday at The Preserve @ Lake Rathbun.
The Indians finished seventh with a 351 total as Fairfield, Centerville and Des Moines Christian battled it out for the team title. Fairfield, led by a 73 by Nick Higgins, won the tournament with a 313 total. Centerville was a close second at 316 and Des Moines Christian cared a score of 319.
Alex Moorman of Centerville and Ryan Minor of Des Moines Christian tied for medalist honors with a 3-under 69.
Minor birdied the first three holes and was 4-under through five while Moorman had birdies on four of his first eight holes.
Oskaloosa had four players with rounds in the 80s, led by an 86 by Ethan Farner. Andrew Brouwer and Tanner Lanphier both shot an 88 and Nick DenHartog recorded an 89. Andrew Shaffer had a 91 and Spencer Nelson rounded out the team with a 98. 
“The kids played pretty well with the cold weather and the wind,” Oskaloosa coach Bret Foster said.
