Quintet competes in martial arts tournament

OSKALOOSA —

Students from Brayton’s Black Belt Academy recently returned from Bellevue, Neb., at an American Taekwondo Association martial arts tournament.
Stephen Brayton, who is chief instructor at the academy, and Allen Chilcote, a 4th-degree Black Belt, took several of their students to the tournament as one student was attending her very first tournament.
Chilcote participated as a judge and Steven Seville, who is a Yellow Belt, participated in forms, one-steps (sparring) and he created his own weapon form.
Seville took third in the forms, fourth in one-steps and first in weapons. He’s been in the ATA for about nine months. 
“That is quite an accomplishment for a new student done as well as he did. I am very proud of him,” Chilcote said. “His mom was so happy on his accomplishments as well.”
Seville is the son of Mitchell Seville.
Matthew Chilcote, the son of Allen Chilcote and a 3rd-degree Black Belt, took first places in forms, sparring and weapons. He’s been in the ATA for more than 16 years and has made the top 10 in his division. He will now compete in Little Rock, Ark., for the world championship. He is the Triple Crown champion for 2013 and his specialty is the double nun chucks.
Allen Chilcote III, who’s now a 2nd-degree Black Belt at the age of 11, had a very good day. He has been in the ATA for more than two years. 
He recorded three first places and is the World Champion in weapons as well. His specialty is single nun chucks. Allen III also qualified in the top 10 and will be competing in the world championships. He is the son of Allen Chilcote II and Candy Sellers.
Darrien Chilcote is a Brown Belt at the age of 6. His division in the Tiny Tigers. He took home two medallions and will also be heading to the world championships. His specialty is the single nun chucks and has been in the ATA for two years. He is the son of Allen Chilcote II and Candy Sellers.
