Jason Beebe ran for 127 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Oskaloosa freshmen to a 33-24 triumph over Keokuk Friday night.
Beebe scored on runs of 3, 23 and 37 yards to help the Indians go to 5-1 on the season.
“Jason had two runs that he ran through the whole Keokuk defense,” Oskaloosa coach Todd Miller said. “He looked like a superb runner doing so. He’s a game-breaker fos us on offense.”
Ethan Arnold was 6-for-11 passing for 119 yards and a touchdown, which went to Bennett Spry for 15 yards late in the first quarter. Spry finished the game with three catches for 75 yards and added 74 yards rushing. Xeavier Franklyn rushed for 14 yards and had an 8-yard TD run on the final play of the third quarter to give the Indians a 27-6 lead.
Arnold had 17 yards rushing while Jack Moore collected nine yards on the ground. Moore also had two receptions for 39 yards while Beebe had one catch for five yards.
Getting two tackles apiece were Matt Hynick, Nathan Lobberecht, Andy Sterner and Drew Sams while the group of Beebe, J’Von Harris, Kyler Salazar, Callan Tomlin and Addison Vandewall all had one tackle.
“We went up a really good team and it was a fight to the finish,” Miller said. “It was a good win for these kids. They had to fight the whole game and it was something this team needed to go through. It was a great game for us.
“We got some stops on defense and got us the ball back on a couple of key times. That helped us seal the game.”
