Sixth-ranked Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont advanced to the Class 2A semifinal of the state volleyball tournament Wednesday with a four-set win over No. 4 Council Bluffs St. Albert at the US Cellular Center.
The Rockets (35-5) won the first two sets of the quarterfinal match 25-20 and 25-22 before losing the third set 27-25 to the Saintes.
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont would win the match 25-16 as it never gave up the lead in the final set.
The Rockets faced either Iowa City Regina or No. 1 Dike-New Hartord in Thursday's semifinal at 4 p.m.
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont got to within a point on a block then closed out the set as Kylie Ferguson's block went out of bounds.
Karlie Taylor recorded 31 kills and four aces while Tasha Alexander had 18 kills and one ace for the Rockets. Taylor Leffler contributed seven kills and Paige Shafer chipped in three aces.
