Mediacom to televise Cyclone football season opener on Connections Channel DES MOINES — Mediacom Communications announced today that it will televise a live broadcast of Thursday night’s football season opener when Iowa State University hosts South Dakota State University. The 7 p.m. game will be produced by Fox College Sports and will be simulcast on the Mediacom Connections Channel and FCS, a regional college sports network that is part of the Mediacom Sports Pak.
The Connections Channel is available to Mediacom cable subscribers throughout Iowa and surrounding states, including Brookings, S.D., home of the SDSU Jackrabbits. “Mediacom’s longstanding partnerships with Fox Sports and ISU Athletics give us an inside track to deliver live sports competition like this to an expanded audience using our own Connections Channel,” said Steve Purcell, Mediacom regional vice president. South Dakota State enters the season ranked 19th in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision preseason poll. The Jackrabbits completed a 7-4 season in 2007 and earned a Great West Football Conference title. This year SDSU moves to the Missouri Valley Football Conference. For the ISU Cyclones, Thursday’s game marks the start of the second season for head football coach Gene Chizik and the debut of a new starting quarterback. Mediacom Connections is located at channel 22 in Iowa (ch. 74 in Iowa City; ch. 5 in Mason City) and in most Illinois communities where Mediacom offers cable and digital video services.
