Published August 22, 2008 11:36 am - New Awana Year beginning at Fellowship Bible Church Fellowship Bible Church, which is located at 1000 A Ave. West, will kick-off it’s Awana program for the fall with food and activities for the whole family on Wednesday, Aug. 27 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Activities for the evening will include Awana registration, Thomas the Train rides, a dunk tank, an inflatable bouncer and slide, Tom the Terrific Balloon Man will be present making balloon creations and there will be food. There is no charge. All Oskaloosa and area families are invited to attend. Awana is a program for children age three through sixth grade. It meets on Wednesday nights from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. during the school year. The evenings involve a game time, handbook time when Awana clubbers memorize Bible verses and a group time with singing, a Bible story, object lesson, or puppets, and team and individual awards. The regular Awana year will begin Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 6:45 p.m. Cubbies (three-year-olds till they start Kindergarten) meet in the west basement at Fellowship Bible Church, Sparkies (K-2nd graders) meet in FBC’s multi-purpose room, and T & T for third to sixth graders meets at New Hope (the former Jefferson School), which is located at 308 Fifth Ave. West.
