Question of the Week: Should the Packers let Brett Favre go?

By DUANE NOLLEN
The Oskaloosa Herald

OSKALOOSA

Should the U.S. drill for more oil in ANWR and offshore? Most of the 53 respondents to that question posed this last week answered YES.

Forty-one — 77.36 percent — said YES while 12 — 22.64 percent answered NO.

The Question of the Week poll is not scientific and only reflects the opinions of those Internet users who have chosen to participate. The Question of the Week is just another way the Herald’s readers can voice their opinions about issues that affect them.

This week’s Question of the Week deals with the controversy over Brett Favre’s future in the NFL.

After barely missing a Super Bowl berth this past year, Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre retired from football.

Well, maybe.

Recently, Favre has stated he wants to come out of retirement to play some more football. What’s more, the three-time MVP wants to be released by the Packers to play for another team. The Packers told Farve he could return to the team, but be the backup to quarterback Aaron Rodgers. They have not released him yet — he still has about three years on his contract.

In a new twist, the Packers have accused their arch rivals — The Minnesota Vikings — of having inappropriate contact with Favre concerning his joining their team, which violates NFL rules. Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell used to be the quarterbacks coach at Green Bay and the two are good friends. The Vikings are mum on the topic.

This NFL soap opera looks to be headed to a messy divorce between Favre and the Packers, a team he has played for during the past 17 years. Should the Packers keep him or release him so he can go somewhere else to play?

What do you think?

This week’s Question of the Week: Should the Packers let Brett Favre go? YES, NO, DON’T CARE

People can vote on The Herald’s Web site, oskaloosa.com, from Monday through noon on Friday. Then, votes will be tallied and published the following Monday.
