Cecilia Kay (Estes) Wood, 72, of Oskaloosa, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
She was born Wednesday, Nov. 13, 1940, in Iowa City, the daughter of Cecil and Dorothy Goodell Estes. She attended Washington High School in Washington, Iowa. On Dec. 3, 1968, she was united in marriage to James Wood at Fairfield, and they later divorced. Cecilia worked various jobs until going back to school at Indian Hills for nursing. She graduated from Indian Hills in 1987 with her R.N. She then worked at Pella Regional Health Center for 10 years and lastly at Washington County Hospital until her retirement in 2005. She loved Elvis, fast cars and being outdoors.
Her family includes her four sons: Doug Hole and Tracey Hole, both of Oskaloosa, Brian (and Barb) Hole, of Coralville, and William (and Soari) Hafel IV, of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters: Cindy Reinier, of Fremont, and Marlo (and James) Hubbell, of Oskaloosa; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother: Miland Lathrop.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with the Rev. Carla Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Ollie Cemetery near Ollie. Visitation will begin Friday after 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with the family present at the funeral chapel Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Cecilia Wood Memorial Fund.
