BARNES CITY — June Ladd, 88, of Barnes City, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, at the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon with a procession forming at 10:50 a.m. to go to the cemetery. Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Sharon United Methodist Church. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.
June Lemoyne Ladd, daughter of Edwin and Gladys (Evans) Northcutt, was born on June 9, 1924, in Taintor. She attended Ludwick Country School before graduating from New Sharon High School. On May 8, 1944, June was united in marriage to Max Ladd in St. Louis, Mo. To this union one son was born, Ronnie. June worked at Dale F. Clayworth Insurance, Jeans Café and taught country school at Riggs in Barnes City and White Oak near Rose Hill before working for Sig Manufacturing in Montezuma, retiring after 30 plus years. June enjoyed playing cards, gardening and was an avid reader. She was a member of the New Sharon United Methodist Church and the Happy Go Lucky Neighborhood Club.
June is survived by her son, Ronnie Ladd, of Barnes City, and her sister, Viola Jackson, of Vallejo, Calif.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Gladys Northcutt; her husband, Max Ladd in 2003 and two brothers, Wayne and Roland Northcutt.
