Bruce Malin Everhart, age 62, of Des Moines and formerly of Oskaloosa, passed away at 10 a.m., June 2, 2013, at the Norwalk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Aug. 8, 1950, the son of Tracy C. and Mildred J. (Malin) Everhart, of Oskaloosa. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School, Class of 1968 and then attended the San Francisco School of Art. He last worked as a welder for Dee Zee Mfg., and Porter Power Sign Company, and as a mechanic/painter for the Salvation Army.

Bruce was formerly married to Pam Todd. They were blessed with one son: Matthew Eli Everhart.

Bruce was an accomplished musician and was inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007, as a member of the Yetti Blues Band.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law: Janet Everhart. Bruce is survived by his son: Matthew Eli Everhart, of Mesa, Ariz.; and two brothers: Dean Everhart, of Northport, N.Y., and Glen and Betty Everhart, of West Des Moines.

As was his wish, Bruce was cremated. There will be a family graveside burial at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, at the Forest Cemetery of Oskaloosa with the Rev. T. Glen Everhart officiating.

A memorial has been established in Bruce Everhart’s name to the Salvation Army. Condolences may be sent to WWW.winfieldfh.com. The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting Bruce’s family with arrangements.
