Beverly Russell, 41, of Des Moines and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines.
She was born Dec. 24, 1971, in Oskaloosa the daughter of Donnie and Karen Thompson McAdoo. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1990. Following graduation she attended Indian Hills Community College and A.I.B. On Oct. 14, 1996, she was united in marriage to Scott Russell in Oskaloosa. To this union, two children were born Abby Elizabeth Russell and Brendan Scott Russell. Beverly and Scott later divorced. She worked various places throughout her life including, Diamond Shelter (now Imagine the Possibilities), Herbergers in Ottumwa, and as an associate at Oskaloosa Senior High. She enjoyed spending time with her family and also working on cross-word puzzles.
Her family includes her two children, Abby Russell and Brendan Russell, both of Oskaloosa; her mother, Karen McAdoo, of Oskaloosa; her father and step mother, Donnie and Mary McAdoo, of Oklahoma; a sister Brandie (and Pascual) Samaniego, of Oklahoma; and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jim and Lucille Thompson and Hershall and Edith McAdoo.
A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa with Kevin Brown officiating. A procession will form at the Bates Funeral Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday for those wishing to go to the cemetery. As was Beverly’s wish, her body has been cremated and no visitation is planned. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family.
