BRADENTON, Fla. —
Jean Smith Polkowske, 87, of Bradenton, Fla., passed away Nov. 23, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Polkowske.
Born Dec. 30, 1925, in Rochester, Minn., she was a daughter of the late Leroy and Matilda Weber Smith. She was a homemaker as well as a registered nurse. Jean moved from independence, Wis., to Florida, in 1978. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Bradenton, Fla., and was a member of Sacred Heart Ladies Guild, Sacred Heart Rosary Makers, Adoration Chapel, AARP, and a life member of AML Auxiliary.
Survivors include 6 sons, David Polkowske and wife Carol, of Oskaloosa, Leroy Polkowske and wife Jan, of La Jara, Colo., John Polkowske, of Trempealeau, Wis., Nicholas Polkowske and wife Micky, of Portage, Wis., Joseph Polkowske and wife Shirley, of Chetek, Wis., Robert Polkowske and wife Chris, of Durand, Wis.; a daughter, Gail Keene and husband Tom, of Trempealeau, Wis.; a sister, Patricia Hass, of Bradenton, Fla., 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Jean Polkowske will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Stewartville, Minn., with the Rev. John Wilmot officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call 1 hr. prior to the service at the church on Saturday morning.
