Connie Mae Gutch, age 72, of Eddyville, died
Wednesday morning, Dec. 4, 2013, at the Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
Connie was born on March 28, 1941, in Iowa City, and as a young child was adopted by Condie Sheridan and Neva Mae (Stewart) Bowles. Connie grew up around Eddyville and graduated from the Eddyville High School, Class of
On Nov. 11, 1960, in Ottumwa, Connie and Charles Roger Gutch were united in marriage. Connie and Charles shared 53 years of marriage before Connie’s passing and were blessed with three children: Roger, Terri and Russell.
Connie enjoyed fishing, garage sales and auctions. She was also a member of the Eddyville United Methodist Church.
Connie is survived by her husband, Charles Gutch, of Eddyville; their children, Roger (Mary) Gutch, of Eddyville, Terri (Terry) Vander Velden, of Oskaloosa, and Russell Gutch, of Eddyville; nine grandchildren, Ana, Sheri, Kathryn, Ruth E., Alex, Chris, Charles, Dakota and Savanna; and one great-grandson Aiden. Connie is also survived by her siblings, Darlene Hadden, Arlene Schwartz, Dorothy Webb, Fran Bowling, Donna Connerley, Ronald Ritter and Robert Stapella.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Condie and Neva, and three brothers, Clair and Kenneth Ritter and Vern Dreyustern and her half brother Chuck Pelton.
Visitation for Connie will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6,
at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel of Eddyville. Connie’s family will be present
Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the First
Christian Church with the Rev. Dennis Durst officiating. Burial will follow services at Highland Cemetery of Eddyville.
A memorial has been established to the Hospice Serenity House of Oskaloosa or the Eddyville Park and Recreation.
The Eddyville Funeral Chapel is assisting Connie’s family with services.
