Diane Gilbreaith, 64, of Altoona and formerly of Montezuma, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2013, at the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moine.
As per Diane's wishes, no services will be held. An open house/luncheon will be held in Diane's honor on Saturday, July 13, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Community Hope Church in Montezuma. Memorials may be directed in Diane's name to the family or to the Taylor Hospice House. Friends may send condolences or sign the online guestbook at

Diane Lynn Gilbreaith, the daughter of Clifford and Colleen Riggs Beyer was born on Oct. 14, 1948, in Oskaloosa. She was a 1966 graduate of Montezuma High School. She married Gary Gilbreaith and to this union Heidi was born joining her brother Donovan. They were married for 29 years. Diane worked for the Montezuma Elevator before working and retiring from Sutherland's. She then moved to Altoona to be closer to her daughter's family and grandchildren.
Diane loved babysitting her grandchildren and playing with them. She met her close friend Ron Van Alst at the Knoxville Speedway 12 years ago. She enjoyed going with Ron to Vegas and attending many races. Diane loved time spent with her daughter Heidi shopping and going out to lunch.
Diane's memory will be cherished by her daughter Heidi (Brad) Neuweg, of Pleasant Hill, her grandchildren Tytan and Rowan, her special friend Ron Val Alst, of Oskaloosa, her brother Darwin Beyer of Ohio, her sister Debbie Benson, of Kellogg, nieces, nephews and many many friends.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents and her son Donovan.
