Kimberly Edgington, 43, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
She was born Sept. 7, 1969, at Albia, the daughter of Leslie Gene and Helen E. Chandler Edgington. She graduated from the Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1987. Following graduation she went to work at Siesta Park until they closed. Later she worked at Pleasant Park, now Crystal Heights Care Center. She also had worked at Casey’s General Store on South Market for a year. Kim enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles; and baking cookies and candy at Christmas time. She was a member of Omega Church, and helped with children’s church. Her family was her everything.
Her family includes her mother, Helen Edgington, of Oskaloosa; two daughters: Belinda Edgington and Miranda Messamaker, both of Oskaloosa; a son, (William) Cody Messamaker, Oskaloosa; a granddaughter: Taylor Rose Burk; four brothers: Charles (and Lisa) Nine, of Eagle Grove, Daryl Nine, of Russell, Frank (and Lisa) Nine, of Sumter, S.C., and Leslie Edgington, of Russell; a sister: Katherine Edgington, of Oskaloosa; her companion, Bill Messamaker; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; and a brother, Patrick Nine.
As was her wish, she has been cremated. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at 1 p.m. in the Omega Church (the old Jefferson Elementary School) with the Rev. Dave Brown officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will follow in Old White Cemetery at Oskaloosa. Visitation with the family will be at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Friday from 5 – 7 p.m. A memorial has been established in her name.
