Terry A. McMillian, 62, of Rose Hill, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Mahaska Health Partnership E.R. in Oskaloosa.
He was born Saturday, Jan. 6, 1951, in Oskaloosa the son of Gentry and Rosemary Evans McMillian. Terry graduated from the Oskaloosa Senior High with the class of 1969. Following graduation he attended a tech school in Milwaukee to study drafting. On Dec. 31, 1987, Terry was united in marriage to Caryn A. Boyles in Oskaloosa and she died Sept. 13, 2003. Terry worked various manufacturing jobs including Clow Valve and Pella Corp. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, astrology, computers, music, math, games and family get togethers. He also enjoyed reading and was always trying to learn new things. Terry’s kids and grandkids were his number one priority and the center of his life.
His family includes his daughters: Channa McMillian, of Oskaloosa, Crystal (and Robert) Wells, of Rose Hill, and Teresa Day, of Oskaloosa; two grandchildren: Tommy McDonald and IvyAnn Patton and another grandchild on the way; two sisters: Ellen (and Howard) Thompson, of Oskaloosa, and Rita Voss; a brother: Charlie (and Bert) McMillian, of New Sharon; a sister-in-law: Jamie Vos, of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a mother-in-law: Joni Luzadder; and two brothers-in-law: Dale Voss and Nick Vos.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with the Rev. Charlie McMillian officiating. As was his wish his body will be cremated following the service and burial of the cremated remains will be in the Beacon Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will begin Friday after 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be present at the funeral chapel Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
