EATON RAPIDS, Mich. — Cheryl Lynn (De Bruin) Vande Haar, age 55, of Eaton Rapids, Mich., and formerly of Oskaloosa, passed away peacefully at home with her family on Saturday morning, May 24, 2014, after a long battle with liver cancer.
Cheryl was born, April 3, 1959, in Oskaloosa, to Marvin and Jeanette (Beekhuizen) De Bruin. She leaves her husband of 31 years, Michael and their three sons, John (Anna), Jacob (Jin) and Peter Vande Haar. She also leaves her parents, a sister, Joan (Dr. Tony) Kunz, and five brothers, Alan (Barb), Rich (Karen), Gene (Sue), Bruce (Rochelle), and Irv (Anne) De Bruin, and their families, Mike’s parent’s, John and Alice Vande Haar and his brothers, Paul (Lisa), Evan (Christy), and Bill (Andrea) Vande Haar, and their families.
Cheryl began playing piano and organ as a young girl. She was a pianist and organist at her church. She taught elementary music at Lansing Christian School.
She was a loving wife and mother who made time with family a priority.
She was a faithful servant of her Lord, Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31, at River Terrace Church in East Lansing, Mich. Interment will follow in the Dimondale Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home in East Lansing.
Memorial contributions may be made to River Terrace Church for a Worship Music Scholarship or to Lansing Christian School for the music teaching program.
