Ariel Astazia Jane Thomas, 20, of 5768 Dahlonega Rd. formerly of Bloomfield and Ottumwa, died at 1:32 p.m. March 30, 2013, at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospital in Oskaloosa as the result of an auto accident along with her unborn child.
She was born April 2, 1992, in Glendale, Ariz., to Jody and Sharae Jones Thomas.
Ariel attended Davis County High School and graduated from Fountain Hills High School in Fountain Hills, Ariz., in 2010. She had attended Indian Hills Community College and currently was taking classes.
She had worked for G4S Security at Cargill in Eddyville. She was currently working at Booton’s World, and as a receptionist at Henderson Auto Works.
She had attended Church of the Open Bible in Bloomfield. She was full of life, fun and outgoing. Ariel made you smile while you were down. She enjoyed playing basketball, volleyball and softball while in high school and loved to ride motorcycles and 4-wheelers.
Surviving is her father, Jody (Teresa) Thomas, of Ottumwa; her mother, Sharae (Jefferson) Morgan, of Crescent City, Calif.; grandparents, Vicki and Larry Morrow, of Ottumwa, Richard and Sandra Thomas, of Lakeview, Ariz., Carolyn Poole, of Denver, Colo., and Don and Sharon Showman, of Bloomfield; a brother, Aaron Lee Thomas, of Ottumwa; a sister, Megan Erin (Andy Seskevich) Shelby, of Fayetteville, N.C.; her boyfriend, Zach Clark; 2 step-mothers, Jana Lynn Wemer and Rebecca Sue Thomas, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Michael Jones.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with the Rev. Charles Courtney officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
Visitation will start at 11 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
