CARTHAGE, Mo. —
Phyllis Nadine Freeman, 84, Carthage, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013, in Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, Mo.
Phyllis Nadine Dykstra was born Aug. 31, 1928 in Evans, a daughter of the late John Dykstra Jr. and Hazel Weldon Dykstra. She married Glen Freeman on Dec. 31, 1948, in Oskaloosa; he preceded her in death on April 1, 2007. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church, Oskaloosa.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Freeman Smith, Atlanta, Ga.; three sons, Greg (Shirley) Freeman, Carthage, Randy Freeman, Springfield, Mo., and Ron (Lora) Freeman, Clearwater, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Chad (Tracy) Freeman, Matt (Jessie) Freeman, Ryan Freeman (Tina Payne and daughter, Shelby), Jennifer Smith, Lindsey Smith, Drake Freeman and Caroline Freeman; six great-grandchildren, Coy Freeman, Gage Freeman, Cooper Freeman, Colbi Freeman, Austin Bunn and Amanda Jones; a long-time friend, Clover Robbins; a sister-in-law Jane Dykstra, Eddyville, a brother-in-law, Rex Scritchfield, Coal Valley, Ill. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Sytsma, and two brothers, Gene and Bevan Dykstra.

Visitation will be held from 6 – 7 p.m., Friday, March 29, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 30, in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. James Lee, First United Methodist Church, Carthage, will officiate. Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage, Mo. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Children’s Miracle Network.
