MACK'S CREEK, Mo. — Max Ray Hawkinson, 71, passed away Thursday May 2, 2013, at his home in Mack's Creek, Mo..



Max was born on Jan. 22,1942, in the country on the Ben Anderson Farm near Fremont to Raoul Clarence and Juanita Alberta Sarvis Hawkinson. He attended Fremont High School, graduating in 1960. He worked for United Grocery as a produce manager for a few years. Max started at Hy-Vee in Greenfield on April 12,1975, and worked for Hy-Vee for many years. In 1995, he began to drive s semi for Prime Inc. in Springfield, Mo., until 2007 when he retired. Max also enjoyed raising Morgan horses with his wife, Dian.

He was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Rhoads on Nov. 25,1962, in Fremont, and together they have three children, Todd Hawkinson, Craig Hawkinson, Michelle Vermeersch; they later divorced. He was currently united in marriage to Dian Weaver on Dec. 27, 1996.

Max was preceded in death by his parents; a step-father, Ralph Casey; a brother, Larry Dean Hawkinson; a step-brother, Joseph Casey; a granddaughter, Lisa Ann Vermeersch; and a niece, Cyndee McKenna.

His family includes his wife, Dian Hawkinson; a son, Todd and Lynne Hawkinson, of Ballwin, Mo.; a son, Craig Hawkinson, of Duluth, Minn.; a daughter, Michelle and Scott Vermeersch, of Rochester, Minn.; grandchildren: Kyle Hawkinson, Sarah Hawkinson, Tyler Vermeersch, Christian Vermeersch. His sister, Kay Swansea, of Oskaloosa; a niece, Kim and Loren Hois and family; a niece, Tasi and Joel DeJoode and family, all of Qskaloosa; a step – brother, Patrick and Cherie Casey, of Omaha, Neb.; step - sister Debbie and Scott Dyer, of Banders, Texas; and many other nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, May 10, at the Hedges Family Chapel, Mack's Creek, Mo.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at Mack's Creek Cemetery.
