NEW SHARON — Nellie Fay DeCook, 86 of New Sharon passed away Saturday afternoon, June 8, 2013, at the Northern Mahaska Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oskaloosa.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the Taintor Community Church in Taintor with David Pinkerton officiating. Burial will be held in the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Memorials may be directed to the New Sharon Fire and Rescue or the Barnes City Fire Department. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

Nellie Fay DeCook, daughter of Bennie and Jennie (Vos) Zwank, was born on March 10, 1927 in Sandridge, Iowa north of Pella in Marion County. After she finished country school south of Sully, Fay stayed home to help keep house and she also worked at the Sully Creamery. On December 26, 1947, Fay was united in marriage to Walton DeCook at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union two sons were born, Gary and Terry. Fay worked for Sully Coop., in the egg division for a few years, before helping Walton on the farm and with their trucking company, DeCook Trucking. After Walton’s death, Fay moved to Prairie Homes in New Sharon in 2009. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and most of all spending time in the truck with Walton. Fay was a member of the Just We Neighbors (JWN) Club, the Sully First Reformed Church and she attended the Taintor Community Church

Her memory will be cherished by her sons, Gary DeCook of Barnes City and Terry (Lea) DeCook of New Sharon, five grandchildren, Joshua DeCook of New Sharon, Jacob DeCook of Oskaloosa, Jami DeCook of New Sharon, Tiffany (John) Hammerly of Stuart and Tasha DeCook of Urbandale; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Kleinendorst; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Fay was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Jennie Zwank; her step-mother, Artie Zwank; her husband, Walton DeCook on June 22, 2006; her brother, Jacob Zwank and her sister, Jeanetta (Glen) Dunwoody.
