UNIVERSITY PARK —
Julie Lewis, 52, of University Park, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at her home in University Park.
She was born Sept. 1, 1961, in New Martinsburg, W. Va., the daughter of James and Janet Ransford Tewell. Following school, she went to work at Pleasant Park Nursing Home in Oskaloosa. Later she worked for Pella Corporation, the Mahaska Hospital and White Oak Estates. In 1990, she was united in marriage to Michael Lewis, they later divorced. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren, playing games with her family, coloring and doing crossword puzzles.
Her family includes her three children, Tiffany Tewell (and Chris Norton), of Oskaloosa, Jack Lewis, of Oskaloosa, and Matthew Lewis, of Oskaloosa; three grandchildren, Nathan Norton, Kilie Norton and Kira Lewis; three sisters, Debra Bonea, of Oskaloosa, Stacy (and Everett) Montgomery, of Oskaloosa, and Stephanie (and Troy) Kraber, of Oskaloosa; two brothers, James Tewell, of Oskaloosa, and Joe (and Angel) Tewell, of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 6 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Paul Williams officiating. As was Julie’s wish her body has been cremated. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation with the family present will be Wednesday evening from 4 until service time at 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family.
