Donald Wright, 69, of Oskaloosa, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
As was his wish, his body has been cremated and no services are planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Mahaska School. Friends may sign the online guest book at www.hollandcoblefuneralhomes.com. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.
Donald Wright, son of Paul and Dorothy (Widener) Wright, was born on Sept. 12, 1943, in Redfield. He was a 1961 graduate from Redfield High School and attended college in Missouri. On July 4, 1965, Don was united in marriage to Dixie Shaw at the New Sharon United Methodist Church in New Sharon. To this union two daughters were born, Angie and Ashlee. They later divorced in 1988. In April of 1966, Don enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in February of 1970. Don worked for DuBois Chemical for several years. When he moved to New Sharon, Don worked for Clow Valve Company and Waste Management. Don enjoyed camping, fishing and he served on the North Mahaska School Board in the late 1980s.
Don is survived by his two daughters, Angie (Mark) Smith, of New Sharon, and Ashlee (Shane) Angle, of New Sharon, and six grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Tara Smith, Tori Smith, Mackenzie Angle, Taylor Angle and Chance Angle.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dorothy Wright.
